Marion D. Brooks III
Marion grew up in the diverse borough of Queens, New York where he was surrounded by a tight-knit community with strong family values. Growing up, he saw the impact that a supportive family could have on a person's life, and he made it his mission to promote those same values in his writing. Marion believes in the importance of nurturing the mental health of children and encouraging them to express themselves through creative outlets such as writing and art. Marion’s experiences in New York and the lessons he learned from his family have shaped his perspective on life and continue to influence his writing today.

I am a mom to an extraordinary kid named Mac who inspired this book. I live in Atlanta with Mac and our Yorkie Poo named Charlie. I love to encourage kids who may feel a little different. My Mac and Cheez series will be about real kids, (Mac and Cheez), with real problems. They will explore difference, adoption, struggling with ADHD and racial profiling. This series will be a wonderful resource for moms, teachers and day care providers. I want kids to have the courage to cope and navigate real life challenges with love and support. I am a native New Yorker, an entrepreneur and a leader in my community. I also love to microwave my ice cream and put sugar on my grits. I guess I am a little different too!
